So I skipped right over U2's 'One' since it isn't a love song at all. It becomes quite apparent if you listen to it a few times and read the lyrics. I honestly don't even know how you could make that connection.
Moving on we have Time After Time.
The Breakdown
It's a catchy enough song, and I think that time has proven that it is not forgetable, so it's got that going for it. It is definitely a song about love but I think that it makes love sound depressing. Or maybe it makes life sound depressing and love is the wee glimmer of hope that makes it a bit less futile. Either way I am not crazy about this approach to writing a love song. I guess I'm looking for a love song that doesn't take itself too seriously.
